We are delighted to welcome Dr Jun Ishihara, a lecturer at Imperial College London department of bioengineering.  Jun received his PhD in university of Tokyo in 2014. He became a postdoctoral fellow at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and University of Chicago. Then, Jun became a principal investigator at the department of Bioengineering, Imperial College London. He is currently leading a lab of 15 people. Trained as a stem cell biologist, immunologist and bioengineer, he employs cell engineering and protein biology methodology to achieve immune cell manipulation. He has developed novel technologies, and currently focuses on achieving local cancer immunotherapy through targeting the tumour microenvironment. Since the establishment of his laboratory, he has been awarded numerous research grants and awards, including young investigator award from Japanese cancer association. His goal is to make cancer immunotherapy more “comfortable” and long-term effective for patients with cancers.
